Clearinghouse for Clinical Rotations

Southeast AHEC

Southeast Alaska has very temperate weather with many opportunities for outdoor sports.  Clinical Rotations for medical students, mid-levels and resident doctors are arranged, primarily, in rural and underserved areas.  Most small clinics in the Sitka, Ketchikan, Wrangell and Petersburg areas are geared toward a 4 or 8 week rotation.  Students should make travel and housing arrangements several months in advance.  Transportation to some of the smaller clinics may require travel by bush plane or small boat.  Please be mindful of the Frontier nature of our transportation system for regional travel.  Because these methods of travel are highly dependent on the weather, be ready for delays “due to weather”.

The Southeast AHEC is newly hosted by SERRC (Southeast Regional Resource Center), but currently hiring staff. Students interested in clinical rotations for this region, in the meantime should contact Linda Stangl from the Alaska AHEC Program Office.
